A HISTORY
How Comic Vision Began
In 1998, Ann Morrison's 5-year-old son Gavin was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Ann's friend Meg Soper suggested a comedy fundraiser to raise money to help find a cure. Family and friends supported the idea and helped create Comic Vision as a unique fundraising event. we started with one market, Toronto. We had an audience of 200 and made $7,800. Our first sponsor came
on board in 2004. By 2007, Comic Vision had developed into a national event with shows in Toronto, Oakville, London and Vancouver; the total audience had grown exponentially. This
cross-country tour was now supported by 19 national sponsors and 9 local sponsors. By the end of 2007, we broke through our first million dollars in fundraising.
