Jarome Iginla, captain of the Calgary Flames, wore these gloves during the 2009 Montreal All Star Game. The game was played on January 25 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, in front of a boisterous audience of 21,273. A five-time NHL All Star, Iginla has represented Canada internationally on numerous occasions, helping to lead Team Canada to its first gold medal in 50 years at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. As well, after leading the Calgary Flames to game seven of the Stanley Cup final, Jerome Iginla helped Canada capture the 2004 World Cup of Hockey.

Duncan Ly, renowned executive chef for the award-winning Hotel Arts Group, will prepare an exquisite dinner for ten in the home of the successful bidder. Chef Ly oversees operations for Raw Bar at Hotel Arts, Chef’s Table at Kensington Riverside Inn (named Canada’s 4th Best New Restaurant in 2008 by enRoute Magazine) and Olives Restaurant (named Calgary’s Best New Restaurant for 2008 by Where Magazine).

Each course of this evening’s customized menu will be paired with signature wines from Bin 905, individually selected by sommelier Geoff Last, a well-known and in-demand wine critic and writer. Wine and fine dining will also be paired with great company, with the Comic Vision organizing committee pleased to be your servers for the evening.

Although Mike Vernon retired in 2002, the significance of a goalie stick signed with his name is not lost on any Calgarian, young or old. Vernon’s NHL breakthrough took place late in the 1986 season, just in time for the Stanley Cup playoffs. With skill and determination, he led the Calgary Flames to their first-ever appearance in the Stanley Cup final. Both starting and ending his career in Calgary, Vernon played in Detroit, San Jose and Florida before returning for his final two seasons in Calgary. One of only 37 players to ever win the Conn Smythe most valuable player trophy (1997), Mike Vernon’s number 30 jersey was retired by the Calgary Flames in 2007.
